EagleVideoMX Connects Two Large Cities on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula

Overview:

With expertise in tower placement, EagleVideoMX has been able to deliver connectivity across challenging geographies, ensuring reliable high-speed access in a scalable network.

Requirements:

Clients in the cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo had diverse and differing needs to be met, bridging urban connectivity across long distances.

Solution:

A5 and A5c access points to lead the urban PTMP propagation. C5, C5c, and C5x client radios provided their nearly 100 subscribers direct wireless access to the urban access points, and B5, B5c, B11, and B24 units provided the backhaul, with some links reaching as far as a combined 40km.

Results:

EagleVideoMX was able to systematically respond to each requirement by utilizing nearly the entire portfolio of Mimosa by Airspan products in its architecture.

A leader in security-system integrations, EagleVideoMX provides its clients with optimized surveillance solutions ranging from conventional architectures to tailored public-safety installations for airports, emergency services, and more. With additional expertise in tower placement, Eagle has been able to deliver connectivity across challenging geographies, ensuring reliable high-speed access in a scalable network.

Recently, Eagle implemented a from-scratch solution to connect two large cities on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, as well as to construct a series of long-range links reaching across the region’s hilly landscape. The team, despite the difficulty of bridging urban connectivity across long distances, was able to leverage Mimosa by Airspan’s Point-to-Point and Point-to-MultiPoint functionality as a holistic, manageable, and out-of-the-box solution.

Clients in the cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo had diverse and differing needs to be met – and Eagle was able to systematically respond to each’s requirements by utilizing nearly the entire portfolio of Mimosa by Airspan products in its architecture. Partnering with the Mimosa distributor Syscom Mexico, the team decided upon A5 and A5c access points to lead the urban PTMP propagation. C5, C5c, and C5x client radios provided their nearly 100 subscribers direct wireless access to the urban access points, and B5, B5c, B11, and B24 units provided the backhaul, with some links reaching as far as a combined 40km. Along one of their main trunk setups spanning from the peninsula’s southern tip across a rugged landscape to the Gulf of California, the team measured up to 130 Gbps of throughput.

“Mimosa and its teams are widely recognized for their quality and efficiency in providing solutions that allow us to meet customer expectations with a cost/benefit margin that satisfies all parties”

Beyond endorsing Mimosa’s role in providing a keystone technology for their high-security deployments, Juan Estrella, as the Director of Operations for EagleVideoMX, praises that “Mimosa and its teams are widely recognized for their quality and efficiency in providing solutions that allow us to meet customer expectations with a cost/benefit margin that satisfies all parties”.

He continues that, for Eagle, “the cost/benefit of being able to have a robust, stable, and scalable infrastructure that allows for meeting the customers’ requirements in a satisfactory way, has been the greatest benefit of using Mimosa equipment.”

Additionally, as the Los Cabos project shows, the benefits of a Mimosa by Airspan implementation go well beyond the out-of-the-box capabilities. Estrella states further: “For almost 4 years, we implemented in stages and maintained through remote and on-site technical support, the infrastructure of more than 160 links and to-date, almost 300 cameras.” The Mimosa Design Tool allows ongoing active management for the network, and, in addition to providing live visualization of link structures, also functions as a Spectrum Analyzer. Since Eagle’s rapid surveillance infrastructure depends on security and reliability for public services, the Mimosa product line’s extended frequency capabilities proved vital in operating the 4.9GHz spectrum, among others.

Mimosa by Airspan continues to work with partner distributors to deliver customers the opportunity to open up new bands across underserved regions at blistering speeds. We are proud to partner with EagleVideoMX in showcasing this fast-growing and cost-effective use case in the surveillance market.
