AeroNet PR, a Hybrid Enterprise ISP serving customers in Miami, Puerto Rico and the neighboring US Virgin Islands, specializes in ultra-reliable, high-speed, high-throughput offerings. With over 85% of its subscribers identifying as businesses, the ISP makes it their mission to deliver fiber-fast speeds, no matter what.

Following the hurricanes in Puerto Rico, AeroNet looked to upgrade its damaged infrastructure and maximize its existing fiber network. With a substantial base of business and enterprise customers, AeroNet required a solution that could handle the bandwidth-heavy and mission-critical applications like video surveillance, cloud access, including full mesh MPLS/VPLS and point-to-point (PTP) links.

No Fiber? Mimosa B24 Fills the Gap
AeroNet tested the Mimosa B24 backhaul radio and, after impressive performance, decided to proceed with deployment network-wide. According to AeroNet, the product has been a great fit, filling gaps where fiber won’t reach or is too costly to deploy, reliably streaming high-speed traffic over short distances in 24 GHz spectrum to avoid the increasingly congested 5 GHz spectrum.

“We were thrilled to discover Mimosa’s powerful B24 radio -it has provided AeroNet with an optimal solution for high-capacity, business class internet access. Its small footprint and unlicensed spectrum allows us to quickly provision point-to-point links for our business and enterprise customers, who count on AeroNet reliability for business continuity and high availability. We were looking for a high-capacity solution in a small footprint and at affordable price - Mimosa checked all the boxes!”

Rising Above the Noise with 11 GHz
In addition to the B24 radios, AeroNet has deployed a number of Mimosa B11 point-to-point links operating in licensed 11 GHz spectrum. The ISP used the Mimosa design tool to configure the network with a focus on maximizing available fiber and tower assets. Due to the very congested unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum in Puerto Rico, AeroNet deploys licensed spectrum where it can, from a network of over 150 towers.

Mimosa Boosts the Bottom Line
Like any successful business, as AeroNet has established and built out its network, it has also paid keen attention to the bottom line, ensuring business average revenue per user (ARPU) is high enough to achieve a return on investment in six months or less. In the very competitive Puerto Rico market, AeroNet’s investment in Mimosa solutions allows them to offer dedicated symmetric business packages from 25 Mbps up to 1 Gbps using Fixed Wireless technology.

Mimosa Fixed Wireless to the Rescue
After the last round of hurricanes when many of the wired solutions sustained devastating water damage, one of AeroNet’s key selling points is the ability to be up and running with high-speed internet within a matter of days. Partnered together with Mimosa’s fiber-fast wireless solutions, AeroNet is on track to successfully deliver the mission-critical bandwidth that its business and enterprise customers demand.
