High-Capacity Backhaul and Cloud-Based Planning and Analytics System Will Bring Reliable Fiber Speed Internet to Communities Worldwide
Mimosa Networks, a pioneer in gigabit wireless technology, today announced the launch of the first wave of its groundbreaking wireless Internet solutions – the B5 Backhaul radio with coordinated Massive MIMO technology, and Mimosa Cloud Services, featuring advanced network-wide planning and analytics. The pairing of the B5 radio with Mimosa Cloud Services is a breakthrough in connectivity, allowing ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to seamlessly build and manage high-capacity scalable networks that pick up where fiber leaves off.

A groundbreaking advance in wireless Internet capacity, Mimosa unveils its B5 Backhaul radio as the first 4 MIMO stream, colocatable radio with advanced spectrum re-use capabilities. The B5 introduces the innovation of “Spectrum Multiplication,” changing the way the industry will view spectrum efficiency.

The Mimosa B5 introduces an entirely new set of features never before seen in the outdoor wireless market:
- Advanced Colocation – the B5 radio makes the most of available spectrum. Using both GPS and GLONASS to maximize satellite sync through precision timing as well as sophisticated RF isolation techniques, the B5 radio offers maximum spectrum re-use for colocated devices.
- Auto Everything – the first radio to offer real-time spectrum analysis without service interruption. The B5 radio automatically optimizes bandwidth, frequency and power use based on historical and real-time data – allowing the radio to immediately adapt to any environmental change.
- Dual Link – actively load balances across two non-contiguous channels to provide unprecedented resiliency against interference.
Complementing the innovative hardware, Mimosa Cloud Services revolutionizes the process of network planning and management with an intelligent, cloud-based planning and analytics tool set for wireless service providers. Enhanced with Google Maps™ mapping service, Mimosa’s network design features allow operators to visually plan and design links while viewing their entire network in one location. Additional topology and obstruction information as well as environmental ITU-based data provide deeper understanding of how a link might operate in real-life.
Mimosa Cloud Services also uses advanced management and monitoring techniques to support networks as they grow. Leveraging the B5’s constant spectrum analysis ability, providers can view real-time and historical spectrum data for any Mimosa radio on their network. Bulk collection of network statistics and graphing of device performance provide operators with the analytics required to improve their networks. Advanced monitoring and alert systems along with secure connection to all Mimosa devices ensures that operators are informed and able to pinpoint problems when customers experience any service interruption.
Mimosa Cloud Services design capabilities are available now. The B5 Backhaul radio is available for order in two versions – an antenna-integrated 5 GHz backhaul radio (B5); and a connectorized radio-only version (B5c). The B5 (List Price: $899 for B5, $839 for B5c) will begin shipping to customers in Fall 2014.
